The DAAD Regional Office Amman, represented by Regional Director Prof. Dr. Hebatallah Fathy and Zeina Abdo, visited Yarmouk University to conduct informational sessions for faculty members and students on DAAD scholarship opportunities, research funding, and study programs in Germany.
The visit included a meeting with the university leadership, where discussions were held with the university president, Prof. Malek Alsharairi, and senior university representatives on strengthening institutional cooperation and expanding academic and research partnerships.
The visit also included discussions on future collaboration opportunities in the areas of sustainability and joint research initiatives, particularly within the framework of the SDG Partnership Programme, with emphasis on addressing water-related challenges in Jordan. In addition, the discussions highlighted opportunities for expanding student participation in upcoming scholarship and exchange programs, including future diploma programs funded by the European Union under the STEP initiative, as well as other technical education pathways.
Further dialogue also highlighted the importance of leveraging digital heritage preservation in the context of Yarmouk University’s rich historical and academic legacy as a promising field for future academic cooperation and research development.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen academic and research cooperation between DAAD and Yarmouk University, praying for continued success and fruitful partnerships.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Jordan, represented by the Director of the Regional Office, Professor Dr. Hebatallah Fathy, visited Al-Balqa Applied University alongside Dr. Carmen Voigt-Graf, representative of the European Union Delegation to Jordan. During the visit, the delegation met with the president of the university, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Ajlouni, along with members of the university leadership and academic staff, to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the fields of technical education and future academic mobility.
Discussions focused on enhancing joint efforts to support students through scholarship programmes offered by DAAD, in addition to future scholarship opportunities in Jordan for technical and vocational education funded by the European Union and implemented by the DAAD regional office in Amman.
During the visit, DAAD delivered a presentation on its various programmes, including scholarships in Germany for master’s and PhD studies, academic exchange opportunities for researchers, as well as funding opportunities for research projects and institutional cooperation with German research institutions and universities.
The delegation also met with Professor Dr. Zaid Al-Anbar, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Technical Education at Al-Balqa Applied University, where they discussed opportunities provided through the EU-funded STEP Project for students in need, particularly applied education scholarships and diploma scholarships. These opportunities also extend to professional fields across multiple sectors, including smart agriculture, information technology, renewable energy, hospitality, and nursing.
This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of DAAD, the European Union, and Al-Balqa Applied University to advancing high-quality technical education while empowering students with the skills and knowledge required for the future labour market.
