It was an honor for us to welcome Dr. Muriel Helbig, the Vice President of the DAAD, on her visit to Jordan last week, accompanying Dr. Silke Launert, the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
She visited the Royal Scientific Society, where she met the Vice President and the heads of several departments, followed by a tour of the facilities and site visits to various laboratories to explore opportunities for strengthening academic and research cooperation with German universities and institutes.
Afterwards she visited our DAAD Regional Office in Amman, where she met the local colleagues and enjoyed a very valuable and engaging discussion with the staff and the Director, Dr. Hebatallah Fathy.
In the afternoon, Dr. Muriel had the pleasure of participating in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the German Jordanian University (GJU) in Madaba, held under the theme “Two Nations, One Vision: 20 Years of Innovation at GJU.” She delivered a speech on behalf of the DAAD, highlighting its vital role in supporting academic exchange programs, scholarships, and research collaborations that have strengthened GJU’s international presence.
Although the trip was short and fast-paced, it was fruitful in every aspect.
