DAAD Visit to the United Arab Emirates: Informing about Study in Germany and Exploring Potential Fields of Academic Cooperation Last week, the DAAD Regional Office Amman participated in the Najah Fair in the UAE, where we had the opportunity to meet hundreds of students eager to learn more about the German higher education system, university admission requirements, and study opportunities in Germany. We were delighted to witness the remarkably high level of interest among UAE students in pursuing their studies in Germany. Following the fair, Dr. Hebaallah Fathy, our Regional Director, and Ms. Zeina Abdo, responsible for our marketing activities, carried out a series of institutional visits across different cities in the UAE, accompanied by colleagues from the German Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the German Consulate in Dubai. Our visits included: • Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi Campus, where we met with Prof. Dr. Ghaleb Al Rifai, University President, Prof. Dr. Amer Al Qasem, Vice President, and other faculty members. We had engaging discussions on potential collaboration opportunities between Al Ain University and German universities in various academic fields. • Sharjah Art Institute, where we were warmly welcomed by Dr. Peter Barlow, Director of the Academy. We enjoyed a fascinating tour of the facilities and explored areas for future cultural and academic cooperation. • University of Sharjah, where we met with Prof. Dr. Asem Eldin Alajami, Director of International Relations. The meeting provided an excellent platform to review ongoing collaborations with German universities and discuss potential new joint initiatives. • Alumni Meeting at the Residence of the German Ambassador, hosted by Mr. Alexander Schönfelder, German Ambassador to the UAE. During this event, we met DAAD alumni as well as students planning to study in Germany. The discussion provided very interesting insights into international study journeys in Germany and highlighted their remarkable impact on academic and professional trajectories. We extend our sincere thanks to all our partners and hosts for their hospitality and engaging discussions.
